Project Overview
This residential development in the heart of SOLIDERE, Downtown Beirut, was part of the city's major urban revitalization program. The project required strict compliance with heritage preservation standards, architectural guidelines, and the technical specifications established for this historical district.
As Senior Architect, I played a key role in producing the final architectural drawings, ensuring that the building’s design respected the area’s cultural identity while meeting contemporary residential needs.
Key Responsibilities and Expertise
Urban & Site Analysis
- ·Conducted a detailed assessment of the heritage context and surrounding urban fabric.
- ·Analyzed Beirut’s traditional architectural typologies, building heights, street alignments, and visual corridors.
Heritage-Driven Architectural Integration
- ·Integrated Ottoman-Mandate–inspired façade elements in line with SOLIDERE guidelines.
- ·Ensured full compatibility with the district’s historical identity while maintaining modern functionality.
Architectural Design & Final Drawings
- ·Developed comprehensive execution drawings, elevation studies, façade details, and construction documentation.
- ·Designed traditional openings, stone elements, cornices, balcony details, and architectural proportions.
Functional & Spatial Planning
- ·Designed residential units organized around a central vertical circulation core.
- ·Introduced interior courtyards to improve natural ventilation, daylighting, and overall comfort.
Regulatory & Technical Compliance
- ·Ensured strict adherence to SOLIDERE regulations, urban restrictions, safety standards, and accessibility requirements.
Interdisciplinary Coordination
- ·Collaborated closely with structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers to optimize building systems and ensure seamless integration.
Materiality & Aesthetic Treatment
- ·Selected and coordinated the use of local natural stone, shutters, and wooden joinery.
- ·Achieved a balance between traditional Lebanese architecture and contemporary residential design.
